Cuttle Scuttle computer game approaches commercial release

Back in 2014, we announced a Cuttlefish Country sideproject called Cuttle Scuttle; a computer game for 7-12 year olds, and the young at heart. The game is now approaching release under our new brand, Force of Nature.

The game is intended to give players an introduction to the ecology of temperate rocky reefs, as experienced through the eyes of a female cuttlefish. The game has come a long way since our early prototypes, and has been play-tested along the way by over a thousand children at major public events, including AVcon (South Australia’s leading video-gaming convention), Science Alive!, Hybrid World, at the SA Museum and most recently at the Big Blue Marine Expo in Launceston, Tasmania.

Our tiny development team is now applying the finishing touches to the game ahead of this year’s World Environment Fair, to be held at the Wayville Showgrounds, Adelaide, South Australia on the weekend of June 2-3.

In the mean time, we will be updating our itch.io release as soon as the last remaining bugs are ironed out, before launching to Linux and Mac platforms via the world’s most popular gaming marketplace: Steam.

Cuttle Scuttle! Beta version available now at itch.io

So what can you expect in the revised and expanded version of the game? Well, we don’t want to give everything away, but we can say this. The art has been refreshed, the action fine-tuned, special levels have been enhanced, new creatures and dialogue have been added, and the game now affords the player more surprises than ever. The Steam release will also feature achievements and trading cards, and the original soundtrack by Cuttlefish (Julian Shank) will become available as a DLC purchase.

The game was always intended to go mobile, and we’ll get there, I promise. In the mean time, thanks for your patience, patronage and enthusiasm.
